Every once in a while as an artist I like to use my creative vision for me. I also love to try new things and go outside of my comfort zone as I truly believe you need to step outside the box in order to grow in your art. So I recently asked for some models and I choose Kali and her sister Jalyn to help me out.
We choose the very beginning of April, the last part of spring break, and while it was still cold and a bit windy the sun was shining and it was glorious! We went to one of my favorite spots to photograph and got to work. Their mom brought all of their amazing outfits except for the Snow White costume which I have been planning to use for several months. Mom did a little bit on make-up on the girls and we were then off and running, er I mean shooting! 😉 Now for the warning…be prepared, there are a LOT of images to show you! 🙂
I started off in the sun. Definitely something I don’t normally do! I try to stay in areas where there is shade but like I said earlier, I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone, try new things and grow as an artist!
We then ventured to some shade with sun in the background. I usually don’t like a lighter background…still stepping outside the box! 🙂
At my favorite location to shoot there is an old one room schoolhouse that is abandoned and has been for quite some time. I have never ventured inside but today I was brave and did! Maybe the girls’ being there and their mom being there made me braver that day, who knows. All I know is that I hope, oh so hope to one day turn it into a studio! It’s a dream that I hope becomes a reality someday….Anyway, these next few images were taken inside the schoolhouse and a few outside as well. 🙂
And for our final image of the session, Snow White! I call this one ‘A Wishing Apple’. I will leave you with a quote from the Disney classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs…”And since you’ve been so good to poor old Granny, I’ll share a secret with you. This is no ordinary apple. It’s a magic wishing apple.” “A wishing apple?”, said Snow White. “Yes. One bite, and all your dreams will come true.” replied the Queen. “Really?” “Yes, girlie. Now, make a wish, and take a bite!”
